Waymo Recalls 3,900 Robotaxis After Some Drove Into Freeway Construction Zones

According to filings with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Waymo recalled approximately 3,900 robotaxis in the U.S. on Thursday after 13 known incidents where vehicles drove into freeway construction zones in Phoenix and the San Francisco area. The voluntary recall, the second in just over a month, affects vehicles using Waymo's fifth-generation automated driving systems. Waymo said it identified an area of improvement regarding performance around freeway construction zones and has voluntarily restricted freeway operations while developing a software remedy.
