The media outlet had previously reported that a Greek supertanker carrying 2 million barrels of crude oil was escorted through an Omani waterway by U.S. Navy guidance as part of a new push for the initiative. The Journal's correction clarified that the prior version of the report inaccurately characterized the coordination between the U.S. and the commercial vessel as a revival of the plan.
