According to the U.S. Central Command, on May 26, the Pentagon clarified that the United States has not resumed the 'Freedom of Navigation Initiative,' contradicting an earlier Wall Street Journal report. The WSJ had incorrectly characterized a Greek-flagged oil tanker carrying 2 million barrels of crude through the Omani coast as part of a renewed deployment of the program. The media outlet subsequently corrected its reporting, with a Central Command spokesman stating that coordination with commercial vessels does not constitute a new push of the initiative.
