U.S. Treasury Imposes Sanctions on 9 Chinese Entities Over Iran Military Purchases

The U.S. Department of the Treasury announced sanctions on nine Chinese and Hong Kong individuals and entities this week, citing alleged assistance in purchasing military equipment for Iran. In response on June 12, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian stated that China firmly opposes unilateral sanctions lacking international legal basis or UN Security Council authorization, and will take all necessary measures to protect the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese enterprises and citizens.
