According to Saudi Arabia's Al Arabiya and reports from July 1, U.S. and Iranian officials held indirect talks in Doha on July 1, with representatives including U.S. negotiators Kushner and Weitzman. The discussions included technical negotiations on Iran's nuclear program, and a preliminary agreement was reached to release $3 billion in frozen Iranian assets to Iran. Iran indicated it would launch final agreement negotiations at an appropriate time, while the U.S. sought to persuade Iran to abandon its toll mechanism for the Strait of Hormuz. Qatar confirmed that all parties agreed to continue discussions, with the next meeting scheduled after the funeral of Iran's late supreme leader.
