Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar Seek Direct Security Talks with Iran Independently of U.S. Negotiations

According to the Daily Telegraph, Saudi Arabia, Oman, and Qatar are conducting direct diplomatic negotiations with Iran on regional security arrangements, with talks proceeding independently from ongoing U.S.-Iran discussions. Iran and Oman have already held their first meeting to discuss management of the Strait of Hormuz, the report said June 30. Upcoming talks between Oman-Qatar, Iran-Saudi Arabia, and Qatar-Saudi Arabia aim to determine post-conflict regional coexistence and cover Hormuz navigation arrangements and potential economic incentives Gulf states may offer Iran in exchange for security concessions.
