Trump Signs Executive Orders for Post-Quantum Encryption Standards by 2030, 2031

According to the Wall Street Journal, US President Donald Trump signed two executive orders aimed at addressing quantum computing threats to current encryption systems. The orders direct federal agencies to transition cryptographic systems to post-quantum cryptography (PQC) standards by the end of 2030, with digital signature systems to be replaced by the end of 2031. The US government aims to develop a quantum computer by 2028. Coinbase's Quantum Computing Advisory Council estimates approximately 7 million bitcoins could be vulnerable to future quantum attacks.
