South Korea's Financial Services Commission Clarifies Mortgage Relief Loan Policy Unchanged on July 29

According to South Korea's Financial Services Commission Chair Lee Eok-won, on July 29, the government has not shifted its policy on mortgage relief loans, which remain regulated. Speaking in parliament, Lee stated that mortgage relief loans continue to be available within the government's regulatory framework. He clarified that recent discussions with banks focused on adjusting internal lending restrictions rather than changing official policy. The FSC maintained its approach to managing household debt while allowing banks to relax self-imposed lending limits in coordination with authorities, ensuring genuine borrowers can access credit normally.
