According to Yonhapnews, South Korea launched the AI Data Center (AIDC) Alliance on July 29, bringing together 12 major companies including SK Telecom, Naver Cloud, Samsung SDS, and LG Electronics under a public-private partnership framework. Deputy Prime Minister Paek Kyoung-hun emphasized that South Korea has entered the AI transformation era and must seize a 3-5 year window to establish itself as a global AI data center powerhouse. The government's National Growth Fund, with 200 trillion won allocated through 2027, will invest 30-40% in semiconductors, AI, and power infrastructure. The alliance plans to build 18.4 gigawatt-scale data centers and expand AI exports through an export-focused task force.
