Meta CEO Zuckerberg Opposes U.S. Ban on Chinese AI Models, Warns Against Regulatory Overreach on Tuesday

According to Financial Times, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg said on Tuesday, July 28, that the U.S. should not ban Chinese AI models to gain a competitive edge in the AI race. He warned that banning China's most advanced AI models from the American market "is not an effective solution," and that U.S. companies should systematically identify bottlenecks and barriers in AI development rather than blocking Chinese competitors to improve competitiveness.

The Trump administration announced Tuesday it will restrict imports of certain Chinese-made robotics and power converters to protect U.S. AI infrastructure from national security risks. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent also warned that Chinese companies could face financial sanctions or be added to the U.S. Commerce Department's entity list, restricting their access to American technology.
