House Agriculture Committee Chairman Glenn Thompson and Ranking Member Angie Craig on Friday urged President Donald Trump to fill four open positions on the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, citing the agency’s expanded crypto mandate and a backlog of pending rulemakings. The push comes one day after the Senate Banking Committee voted 15-9 to advance the CLARITY Act, which would grant the CFTC sweeping new authority over spot digital commodity trading. Currently, CFTC Chairman Michael Selig is the agency’s only commissioner following a wave of departuresleading the panel understaffed since his December appointment.
