France Reports 77 Crypto-Related Kidnappings in H1 2026, Nearly Double 2025 Total

According to Cointelegraph, France's Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez confirmed that the country recorded 77 cryptocurrency-related kidnapping cases in the first half of 2026, nearly double the 45 cases reported for all of 2025. Nuñez pledged a three-part plan to strengthen security measures, including enhanced intelligence sharing, deepened cooperation with industry partners, and improved coordination among security agencies. Authorities have already deployed a rapid alert system with 724 registered users and made 200 arrests through emergency measures.
