France Arrests Four in Crypto-Targeted Kidnapping Attempt Near Marseille on June 13

According to Laprovence, French police arrested four suspects in connection with an attempted kidnapping and robbery targeting crypto assets near Marseille on June 13 at around 3 a.m. The suspects broke into a residence in the 13th district and attempted to take two women hostage to obtain access to cryptocurrency holdings; residents called police after being disturbed by noise, and the suspects fled, leaving only a vehicle license plate as evidence. French police noted that crypto-related kidnapping crimes have been rising, with approximately 70 such incidents involving extortion or abduction of crypto assets recorded in France since the start of 2026.
