Claude Code v2.1.190 Update Reveals Fable 5 Returning With Weekly Quota Model

According to Beating, the latest version of Anthropic's Claude Code (v2.1.190) contains multiple status prompts indicating that the advanced frontier model Fable 5 is preparing to return, revealed through code analysis by @synthwavedd. Unlike version v2.1.186, which classified Fable 5 as a separate usage credit purchase, the latest code removes time-limited inclusion notes and introduces a weekly allotment model. When users reach quota limits, the client will display "You have used up this week's included Fable 5 usage quota" and prompt users to run /usage-credits to continue using the model. Fable 5 was briefly released as Anthropic's advanced frontier model in early June 2026 but was subsequently disabled globally due to U.S. export security restrictions and national security concerns.
