China Advances DEPA Membership Negotiations on May 21 Amid Regional Trade Push

China's Deputy Commerce Minister Li Chenggang attended a digital economy partnership meeting on May 21 in Suzhou during the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) trade ministers meeting, advancing negotiations to join the Digital Economy Partnership Agreement (DEPA). Li stated that China actively pursues DEPA accession and aligns with DEPA rules to enhance digital economy governance. DEPA members acknowledged China's constructive participation and instructed working teams to accelerate negotiations. China submitted its DEPA accession application in November 2021, with formal negotiations launching in August 2022.
