Argentina Bans Crypto Exchanges from Serving Unlicensed Gambling Platforms, Faces 2-4 Year Prison Terms

According to CriptoNoticias, Argentina's government submitted an anti-gambling bill to Congress on May 28 that for the first time explicitly regulates virtual asset service providers. The legislation prohibits banks, fintech companies, crypto exchanges, and wallet providers from offering services to or facilitating transactions with unlicensed gambling platforms operating within Argentina.

Violators face 2 to 4 years imprisonment under amended criminal law provisions. Crypto asset providers must implement stricter know-your-customer (KYC) policies, transaction monitoring, and due diligence measures. Argentina's central bank, securities regulator, communications agency, and NIC Argentina will coordinate to block technical access and disrupt fund flows to illegal platforms.
