According to a Reuters report on April 1, citing officials, U.S. President Trump has instructed Vice President Vance to privately convey a message to Iran: as long as “specific demands” such as reopening the Strait of Hormuz are met, he is open to a ceasefire. The report said that as of March 31, Vance was still discussing the Iran issue with “intermediaries.” Vance delivered a “tough” message, saying that Trump was “impatient.” He also warned that unless Iran reaches an agreement, Iran’s infrastructure will face increasing pressure. Separately, in a report by the U.S. Axios news outlet on April 1, three U.S. officials said the U.S. is exploring the possibility of reaching a ceasefire agreement with Iran on the condition of reopening the Strait of Hormuz. The officials also said it remains unclear whether an agreement can be reached. (Xinhua)
