The Iranian Revolutionary Guard claims to have "full control" of the situation in the Strait of Hormuz
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps of Iran issued a statement on April 1st, stating that its navy has carried out strikes against multiple targets, and that the situation in the Strait of Hormuz is under its “full control.” The statement refuted claims from the U.S. and Israel regarding a decrease in Iran’s offensive intensity. It said that from dawn on that day, Iran used ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and drones in a new round of military operations, conducting multiple strikes against relevant targets. This was also part of the 89th wave of the “Real Commitment-4” operation. The Revolutionary Guard said its targets included some U.S. radar facilities in the Gulf region, an Israeli-owned oil tanker, and several military installations. Iran also launched suicide drones against the U.S. Navy’s “Lincoln” aircraft carrier group deployed in northern Indian Ocean, and claimed that the group had withdrawn from its original deployment position. The statement emphasized that the situation in the Strait of Hormuz has been “firmly under control” by the Revolutionary Guard Navy, and that the strait will not be opened to hostile forces due to the “performative actions” of the U.S. president.
