Hong Kong has been quite active these days, with full daytime schedules and no shortage of events at night, but truly lasting two or three hours with meaningful engagement is not that common.
On April 20th, at the CoinUp Jazz Night, the event runs from 19:00 to 23:00—four hours, neither too long nor too short.
The venue is Popinjays Rooftop, facing Victoria Harbour—such a location naturally filters out some ineffective flow.
It’s not quite like a standard agenda event.
JZ CLUB hosts the entire event, with veteran musicians like Lan Lan and Chen Juncai on stage, continuously playing music, but it doesn’t overshadow the atmosphere; instead, it acts more like background music, setting a relaxed pace.
In this aspect, people are the key variable of the event.
Traders, project teams, funds, KOLs—roughly all gather in the same space.
There are no long speeches or deliberate crowd control; instead, people naturally disperse and reconnect over time.
Drinks and snacks are basic amenities, the space isn’t overly crowded, and the pace is a bit slower—under such conditions, information exchange can be quite efficient.
After all, in four hours, you might only have three or five meaningful conversations, but that’s often enough.
The attendee list is curated, not fully open.
This approach helps reduce noise and keeps the event at a relatively stable density.
If you happen to be in Hong Kong, it’s worth experiencing such an evening—at least it’s more rewarding than attending another daytime panel.
