GateNews
On May 26, China's Yangtze River mouth South Channel fairway dredging project officially commenced as the largest inland waterway project during the 15th Five-Year Plan period. The initiative will upgrade the navigable depth from 6 meters to 8 meters. Upon completion in 2031, the channel will enable 5,000-ton vessels to navigate at all tides and 10,000-ton vessels to transit fully loaded in both directions, enhancing shipping capacity and operational resilience along the Yangtze River corridor.
