According to comprehensive Chinese media reports, Xiaomi Smart Storage officially opened for crowdfunding on the Xiaomi Mall and Xiaomi Youpin at 10:00 AM on July 1, 2026. On the Xiaomi Mall, the crowdfunding amount exceeded 7 million yuan within 3 minutes of launch; by 10:15 AM, the total amount had exceeded 13 million yuan. On the Xiaomi Youpin platform, due to limited allocation, it sold out within 2 minutes, raising 1.95 million yuan.
In less than an hour, the Xiaomi Mall displayed "insufficient stock" for all versions, with over ten thousand people supporting; Xiaomi Youpin displayed "slots full," with over 600 people completing support.
According to reports, before the official crowdfunding launch, Xiaomi Smart Storage opened "blind booking" reservations on the Xiaomi Mall and Xiaomi Youpin. The number of reservations on the Xiaomi Mall exceeded 100,000 people, and on Xiaomi Youpin it was about 42,000 people, bringing the total reservations on both platforms to over 140,000 people.

16TB top-tier version (8TB×2): Priced at 4,699 yuan, includes WD Red hard drives
According to reports, taking the 16TB top-tier version (4,699 yuan) as an example, the market retail price of the two 8TB WD Red hard drives it carries is close to 4,400 yuan; by comparison, the actual cost of the unit body is close to zero.
The report also pointed out that experienced NAS enthusiasts had previously considered the product's configuration inadequate based on engineering sample parameters, but the target audience of Xiaomi Smart Storage is light home users, with the core positioning being basic needs such as storage and transfer of photos, videos, files, and mobile phone data backup, rather than being designed for professional users.
