Woori Financial Amends Securities Filing to Disclose 17,551 Customer Records Breach

According to Yonhap Infomax, Woori Financial Group voluntarily amended its securities filing on July 6 to disclose a data breach as an investment risk factor. The breach involved 17,551 customer personal information records leaked by an external contractor engaged by its subsidiary Woori Bank for an NFT platform development project.

Woori Financial stated that the subsidiary faces potential administrative penalties, compensation claims, litigation, and increased information security investments due to the breach, which could negatively impact the group's reputation, customer retention, and financial condition. The filing amendment aims to provide investor disclosure ahead of the financial regulator's approval review.
