U.S. Jobless Claims Dip to 215k, Spot Gold Shoots Back Above $4,000 on Thursday

According to the Labor Department, initial jobless claims fell to 215,000 for the week ending June 20, below the consensus forecast of 225,000. The better-than-expected data triggered an immediate rally in precious metals, with spot gold briefly shooting back above $4,000 per ounce on Thursday morning. Gold last traded at $3,996.11, down 0.08% on the day. The four-week moving average for new claims came in at 224,250, against expectations for 226,000.
