U.S. Dollar Index Rises to 101.297 Amid Red Sea Shipping Disruptions on July 23

According to Yonhap Infomax, on July 23, the U.S. Dollar Index (DXY) rose to 101.297, up 0.175 points (0.173%) from the previous close of 101.122, as shipping disruptions in the Red Sea and Strait of Hormuz drove up international oil prices. Pro-Iran Houthi forces claimed responsibility for military operations against Saudi oil tankers, intensifying regional tensions.

West Texas Intermediate crude for September delivery surged 4.5% to around $90 per barrel, marking five consecutive days of gains. The broader market also reflected dollar strength across major currency pairs, with the EUR/USD falling 0.181% to 1.13906 and USD/JPY rising 0.209% to 163.489.
