U.S. Deploys 1,300 Marines to Caribbean on May 29, Replaces Previous Expeditionary Unit

According to U.S. Southern Command, the U.S. 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit deployed approximately 1,300 Marines and personnel to the Caribbean on May 29, replacing the 22nd Expeditionary Unit in the region.

The Southern Command stated that the deployment aims to deter hostile state actors and dismantle drug trafficking networks backed by foreign governments.
