GateNews
According to the U.S. Central Command (Centcom), American military personnel deployed in conflict zones are being targeted using commercial location data. In a letter sent on April 14 to Oregon Democratic Senator Ron Wyden, Centcom stated it had "received multiple threat reports regarding adversaries' use of commercial location data to target or surveil U.S. military personnel in theater." The threats relate to the Persian Gulf region, where U.S. forces are engaged in standoff operations with Iranian forces near the Strait of Hormuz, according to Reuters.
