Trump Signs Orders to Accelerate US Quantum Computing, Sets 180-Day Strategy Update

President Donald Trump signed executive orders to accelerate quantum computing development and strengthen U.S. competitiveness in the sector. Federal agencies must update the National Quantum Strategy within 180 days to promote government-industry partnerships and deploy commercially viable quantum technologies.

The orders establish the Quantum Computer for Application Development and Discovery Science (QC-ADDS) program to advance large-scale quantum computing research and direct a nationwide transition to post-quantum cryptography to prepare critical infrastructure against future quantum-based cybersecurity threats.
