According to French newspaper Le Journal du Dimanche, the wife of Sébastien Borget, co-founder of The Sandbox, was targeted in a kidnapping attempt at their residence in Villenoy, Seine-et-Marne region. Masked suspects posing as delivery workers attempted to forcibly abduct her, but neighbors intervened and forced the attackers to flee. Police later arrested two teenage suspects carrying a fake handgun, zip ties, and balaclavas.

France has recorded 41 cryptocurrency-related kidnappings or abduction attempts since the beginning of 2026, with 135 such incidents documented since 2023, according to the report.
