Tether-Backed Adecoagro to Launch 10MW Bitcoin Mining Powered by Sugarcane Energy in Brazil on July 1

BTC-3.11%

Tether-backed Adecoagro is set to launch a 10-megawatt Bitcoin mining operation in Brazil powered by renewable electricity generated from sugarcane processing, with operations targeted to begin around July 1, 2026. The project will deploy approximately 1,280 Bitcoin mining machines using energy produced from bagasse—the fibrous residue left after sugarcane crushing—a process common in South American sugar and ethanol mills.

The initiative reflects Tether's diversification beyond stablecoins into physical infrastructure and energy assets. For Adecoagro, Bitcoin mining introduces a flexible outlet for surplus renewable power, potentially offsetting exposure to volatile grid electricity prices. The project will test whether agricultural biomass-backed mining can scale beyond a pilot phase into a repeatable industrial model.
