Solana Launches Alpenglow Consensus Upgrade on Community Testnet

SOL-1.95%

According to CoinDesk, Solana’s core development team Anza announced that the Alpenglow consensus upgrade has gone live on the community testnet, allowing validators to switch from the current Proof-of-Stake, Proof-of-History, and TowerBFT architecture to the new consensus framework. The upgrade aims to reduce transaction finality time and improve network response efficiency through restructured validator communication and block confirmation processes.

Validators can now execute the Alpenswitch migration in a real environment. Solana co-founder Anatoly Yakovenko previously indicated the upgrade could be deployed to mainnet as early as next quarter if testing proceeds smoothly.
