According to Korean media on July 23, SK Ecognics, a renewable energy developer, surged 55% in July and hit an all-time high of 80,600 won (up 30%) on July 22, significantly outperforming the KOSPI index. The rally was driven by a rebound in international oil prices as Middle East tensions escalated, with WTI crude futures climbing from the 60 USD/barrel range in June to 86.83 USD/barrel on July 22, up 24.94% in July.

Analysts attributed the stock gains to renewed focus on renewable energy alternatives amid oil price volatility, compounded by supply concerns as both the Strait of Hormuz and Red Sea face disruptions. Additionally, artificial intelligence infrastructure expansion faces power grid constraints in the U.S., elevating demand for renewable energy sources. SK Group's collaboration with KKR on renewable energy ventures and government policies supporting direct power purchase agreements (PPA) further boosted investor sentiment.
