Samsung, SK Hynix, Micron Sued for Alleged DRAM Price Manipulation; Market Share Claims Exceed 90%

Samsung Electronics, SK Hynix, and Micron Technology were recently sued in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California in a class action antitrust case (3:26-cv-06345). Plaintiffs allege the three companies collectively control over 90 percent of the DRAM market and conspired to restrict production capacity and manipulate prices, orchestrating what they call "RAMpocalypse." According to the complaint, DRAM prices have surged approximately 700 percent over the past four years. The lawsuit claims the manufacturers strategically shifted limited production capacity toward higher-margin products like HBM memory and prioritized long-term supply contracts with tech giants, thereby restricting supply in the retail market. The case, represented by law firm Bathaee Dunne, seeks injunctions against alleged anticompetitive conduct and triple damages plus attorney fees.
