Samsung, SK Hynix, Micron Sued for Alleged DRAM Price-Fixing on June 29

According to BlockBeats, on June 29, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California received a class action lawsuit against Samsung Electronics, SK Hynix, and Micron Technology, filed by consumers and small businesses. The plaintiffs allege the three companies violated antitrust laws by coordinating to restrict DRAM supply and artificially inflate prices.

According to the complaint, commercial DRAM prices increased approximately 700% over the past four years as a result of the alleged collusion. Samsung and SK Hynix previously pleaded guilty to criminal price-fixing charges brought by the U.S. Department of Justice in the 2000s and paid a combined $731 million in penalties, with multiple executives receiving prison sentences. The lawsuit cites this historical record as evidence of a pattern of systematic and repeated collusion.
