Rivian CEO Flags Memory Chip Shortage as Primary R2 Production Risk

According to Axios, Rivian CEO RJ Scaringe flagged memory chip supply constraints as the primary risk to R2 production on Wednesday, as the company prepares to report Q2 deliveries on Thursday. Scaringe told Axios at last weekend's Aspen Ideas Festival that demand for the $50,000 R2 SUV is not a concern, but supply-side risks are critical. "The biggest risk for R2 is actually on the supply side," he said, citing global semiconductor constraints driven by explosive AI demand. "By far my biggest worry about ramping R2 isn't demand. It's, you know, can we get enough parts to build cars? We're quite nervous about global supply."
