According to an announcement on Wednesday (July 1), KKR and SK Group launched South Korea's largest renewable energy platform, valued at 2 trillion Korean won ($1.3 billion), with initial operating capacity of 1.7GW.
The platform consolidates wind, solar, and fuel cell assets from SK Innovation, SK Ecoplant, and SK Eternix. The partners target future expansion to 10GW, sufficient to power approximately 100 large data centers simultaneously. KKR will obtain initial management control, while SK Group retains rights to pursue control in the future.
