RBNZ Deputy Governor: Will Consider 50 Basis Point Hike if Second-Round Inflation Emerges

GateNews
According to Jin10, New Zealand Reserve Bank Deputy Governor Silk said on Friday that the RBNZ has not yet seen mid-term inflation pressures materializing but stands ready to respond aggressively if they do. "All options are on the table, including a more aggressive 50 basis point rate hike," Silk said in an interview in Wellington. "If data changes and shows a second-round effect is indeed emerging, that's when things get worse and you always keep that option," she added. Conversely, maintaining current rates remains possible if data supports it, Silk noted.
