Gate News, March 15 — The Polkadot token issuance model upgrade officially took effect on March 14. This protocol update sets the maximum supply of the native token DOT at 2.1 billion tokens, with approximately 80% already issued. Additionally, the issuance rate of DOT was reduced by about 53% in a one-time adjustment on March 14, with plans to continue gradually decreasing in the future. The adjustments were proposed by the community and approved through the OpenGov governance mechanism, aiming to maintain network incentives while limiting long-term issuance and providing a more transparent and predictable token issuance path for the market.
