NSW Man Granted Bail Over Alleged $5.7M Bitcoin Haul, Faces House Arrest

According to Batemans Bay Local Court, Jamie Lawrence Powrie, 39, was granted bail with strict house arrest conditions while facing criminal charges linked to an alleged $5.7 million Bitcoin haul. Prosecutors allege cryptocurrency connected to unlawful activity was used to purchase the Surfside home where he was arrested. Powrie must provide a $10,000 surety, surrender his passport and report to police daily.

Powrie is accused of dealing with property representing proceeds of crime exceeding $5 million, failing to comply with a digital evidence access order and supplying prohibited drugs of an indictable quantity. He is due back before the court on 27 July.
