Nikkei Finds zksync.jp Crypto Scam Stole Hundreds of Millions of Yen, Linked to Chinese Fentanyl Network

According to a Nikkei investigation, a criminal group linked to Chinese fentanyl precursor trafficking was also involved in cryptocurrency fraud in Japan. The group issued a fraudulent token called zksync.jp, deceiving victims with losses reaching hundreds of millions of yen. The operation was connected to Hubei Amarvel Biotech and the group Wuhan Yuangcheng, with over 120 cryptocurrency transfers detected between the entities. A Wuhan Yuangcheng leader is designated by the U.S. Department of State as a major fentanyl precursor supplier, with a $5 million reward offered for information leading to his capture.
