According to Reuters, on June 12, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg admitted in an internal memo that the company made mistakes in its AI reorganization, which involved cutting 10% of its workforce and reassigning 7,000 employees to AI-related roles. Zuckerberg said Meta does not expect additional company-wide layoffs this year and will attempt to find new roles for reassigned employees.
Meta is increasing annual capital spending from US$115 billion-US$135 billion to US$125 billion-US$145 billion, a US$10 billion raise aimed at supporting its AI transformation and operational initiatives.
