Meta Announces First Canadian Data Center in Alberta With $9.18 Billion Investment

According to Yahoo Finance, on Wednesday (July 8), Meta announced its first Canadian data center in Alberta as part of its AI infrastructure expansion. The facility will have 1 GW capacity and become Meta's 33rd global data center with an investment of approximately $9.18 billion. The construction is expected to create around 3,000 jobs during the building phase and provide roughly 300 long-term positions upon completion. The data center will use closed-loop liquid cooling combined with dry cooling systems, requiring no water during normal operations.
