Put options on South Korea's KOSPI 200 index have surged relative to call options, with the put-call ratio reaching approximately 2.5x as of the latest trading session, marking a five-year high. This level has been breached only a handful of times historically. In July 2007, when the ratio exceeded 2.5x, the KOSPI 200 declined nearly 17% over the following month. In January 2021, the ratio surpassed 2.5x again, followed by a drop exceeding 5% in the subsequent three weeks.
