Iran's Foreign Minister Says Hormuz Strait Service Fees Justified, June 12

According to Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, speaking to Iranian media on June 12, Iran deems charging service fees through the Hormuz Strait as entirely permissible under international law. Araghchi distinguished between transit fees, which he said are unacceptable, and service fees, which are allowed. He added that Iran has begun consultations with multiple countries on navigation through this critical waterway.
