According to Jinshi Data, Iran's national football team arrived in Tijuana, Mexico on June 7 to prepare for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. While the United States granted visas to all squad players on June 5, several logistics and administrative staff members were denied visas, according to Iran's Football Federation.
Following the visa complications, FIFA approved moving Iran's World Cup base from Tucson, Arizona to Tijuana, Mexico. Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum previously stated the U.S. government requested Iran's team not stay overnight in the United States during the tournament.
