According to U.S. Central Command, on May 27 evening (10:17 p.m. ET), Iran launched five one-way attack drones near the Strait of Hormuz and posed a direct threat to U.S. forces and regional partners. All five drones were successfully intercepted by U.S. military, the command said. Earlier that day, Iran also fired a ballistic missile toward Kuwait, which Kuwaiti forces intercepted.
The U.S. military also prevented Iran from launching a sixth drone from its ground control station in the Hormuz port area, according to the statement. The incidents were described as violations of ceasefire agreements.
