According to The Information, Google disclosed on July 29 that it has agreed to guarantee up to $44 billion in third-party data center lease payments should tenants default, a significant increase from $6.5 billion as of September 2025. The commitment reflects Google's strategy to expand TPU sales as an alternative to Nvidia AI chips. Google has provided lease guarantees for approximately 2.4 gigawatts of capacity across roughly ten projects, which remain under construction.
