ElevenLabs and Stability AI Launch New AI Music Models with Licensed Data

OliverGrant

ElevenLabs and Stability AI released new AI music generation models this week, both emphasizing licensed training data amid ongoing copyright litigation in the industry. ElevenLabs, the Polish-founded voice AI company valued at $11 billion after a $500 million Series D in February, launched Music v2. Stability AI released Stable Audio 3.0, a four-model family with open weights for three variants that generates tracks up to six minutes and twenty seconds long. The releases follow Recording Industry Association of America copyright suits from 2024 against AI music platforms Suno and Udio, making licensed training data a central focus for new market entrants. ElevenLabs established licensing agreements with Believe, Kobalt, and Merlin, while Stability AI partnered with Warner Music Group and Universal Music Group. Suno, currently valued at $2.45 billion as of November 2025, crossed $300 million in annual recurring revenue and has been used by approximately 100 million people, generating around 7 million songs per day.

ElevenLabs Music v2 Features

Music v2 is ElevenLabs' second music model, arriving roughly 10 months after the first version. The model can shift genres within a single track—from opera to heavy metal and back—while maintaining compositional coherence. According to ElevenLabs, the model handles fast rap and embeds non-musical sound effects without the composition breaking down.

The model includes inpainting functionality, allowing users to select and regenerate specific sections while leaving the rest of the track untouched. Users can build songs section by section—intro, verse, chorus—with the model maintaining continuity throughout instead of treating each clip as a standalone generation. Multilingual support has improved, though ElevenLabs did not publish specific details.

Music v2 powers three platforms: ElevenMusic for creators, ElevenAPI for developers, and ElevenCreative for brands. The model is live on ElevenMusic and ElevenCreative now. API access is available through early entry via the sales team.

Pricing Adjustments

ElevenLabs reduced Music v1 and v2 pricing by up to 50% for ElevenAPI and up to 40% for ElevenCreative self-serve. The company hit $500 million in annual recurring revenue in April 2026. ElevenMusic launched as a consumer app in April.

Stability AI Stable Audio 3.0 Technical Specifications

Stable Audio 3.0 ships four models: Small SFX (on-device sound effects), Small (full music composition on-device), Medium (up to 6:20, stronger hardware required), and Large (API-only). Three of the four models have open weights available on Hugging Face. The previous version, Stable Audio 2.0, generated tracks up to three minutes long.

The Small models run at 459 million parameters each without requiring a GPU. Medium operates at 1.4 billion parameters and generates its 6:20 output in approximately 1.31 seconds on an H200 GPU. Large runs at 2.7 billion parameters and is API-only for organizations with over $1 million in revenue. The models support per-second generation granularity, producing tracks at the exact requested length.

The architecture uses a semantic-acoustic autoencoder Stability calls SAME, designed to maintain melodic coherence over longer outputs. LoRA fine-tuning is supported, allowing artists to adapt the models to their own catalogs. Inpainting functionality includes single-segment, multi-segment, and causal continuation to extend tracks past their original endpoint. The models are supported in ComfyUI for local setups.

Market Context and Legal Settlements

Suno hit a $2.45 billion valuation in November 2025 and crossed $300 million in annual recurring revenue. Warner Music settled its suit against Suno in November 2025. Sony and Universal Music Group remain in federal court proceedings with Suno.

Udio settled with all three major labels and operates as a walled garden—content generated on the platform cannot be exported.

Availability

Stable Audio 3.0 Small and Medium models are available on Hugging Face. Large is live via the Stability AI API. Music v2 is free for ElevenMusic users, with commercial tiers available through ElevenCreative and ElevenAPI.
