Eight Defendants Charged in Crypto-Targeted Home Invasion in Illinois on June 10

According to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Northern District of Illinois, eight defendants were charged on June 10 in a home invasion in Winnetka, Illinois. On March 8, armed intruders used a fake food delivery to gain access to a residence, then held an adult captive for about an hour and restrained a child. Prosecutors say the attackers demanded access to cryptocurrency accounts, safes, and computer equipment.

The eight defendants are Andrew Franklin, Dashun Brown, David Franklin, Anthony Ramsey, Isaiah Dukes, Khiell Dukes, Jalen Chambers, and Tyrese Fenton-Watson. Federal filings indicate five men entered with loaded firearms while others coordinated outside. The case highlights how digital asset holders face physical security threats alongside cybercrime risks.
