Corning tumbles 18% on Tuesday after earnings, dragging optical stocks lower

According to CNBC, Corning shares tumbled 18% on Tuesday, July 28, after the glassware maker reported Q2 earnings that beat on revenue and earnings per share but missed on forward guidance. The company projected core revenue growth of 16% for the current quarter, with revenue expected between $4.9 billion and $5 billion, below Wall Street consensus of $5 billion. Shares of other optical component makers including Marvell, Lumentum, AXT and Coherent fell double digits following the earnings print.
