BNK Financial Group Posts 204 Billion Won Q2 Net Profit, Down 35.19% Year-over-Year

According to Yonhap Infomax, BNK Financial Group posted second-quarter net profit of 204 billion Korean won on July 28, down 35.19% year-over-year and missing market expectations of 239.5 billion won by approximately 16%. The result also declined 5.20% quarter-over-quarter.

The earnings drop was driven by a 44-billion-won one-time financing cost incurred during the company's acquisition of external equity stakes in the BNK Gangnam Core Office Fund, compounded by a high base-year effect from 100 billion won in real estate sales gains recognized in the prior-year period. First-half cumulative net profit reached 411.7 billion won, down 13.45% year-over-year.
